Recognition of verification bodies

VerifiGlobal Alliance member organizations have the necessary capabilities to undertake technology performance testing and verification. Listed below are the key capabilities a verification body is expected to demonstrate across all of its defined scope (scope being the technology areas in which the verification body claims competence).

To identify possible risks and benefits pertaining to the use of innovative or non-standardized technologies without established information on the behaviour and performance of the technology in use.

Setting technical criteria

To translate possible risks and benefits into technical criteria in order to evaluate the behaviour and performance of the technologies in relation to the claims made by the manufacturer.

This should take into account environmental and operational parameters and the interests of stakeholders (e.g. manufacturers, designers, specifiers, regulators, users).

Evaluation and verification methods

To verify a technology against the pre-determined performance claims, based on agreed methods and technical criteria.

To provide concrete documentation of the results of the verification in the form of a verification statement.

Follow-up

To understand and have the ability to follow up on verifications that are issued to ensure appropriate use and representation of claims that are verified.
